Cookbook Club: "The Four Season Farm Gardener's Cookbook" a Longwood Gardens Community Read Program

Cookbook Club: "The Four Season Farm Gardener's Cookbook" a Longwood Gardens Community Read Program In-Person

To support the Longwood Gardens Community Read program, the Cookbook Club for April will use a book by Barbara Damrosch and Eliot Coleman, who are America’s foremost organic gardeners, on how to grow what you eat and cook what you grow.

The Four Season Farm Gardener’s Cookbook is two books in one. It’s a complete four-season cookbook with 120 recipes from Barbara, a master cook as well as master gardener. And it’s a step-by-step garden guide that works no matter how big or small your plot. Eating doesn’t get any more local than your own backyard!

To participate, visit the reference desk at the Chester County Library where you will be given the opportunity to browse The Four Season Farm Gardener’s Cookbook. Choose a recipe, receive a photocopy and then make that dish and bring it to the “Cookbook Club” night, Wednesday, April17, 2024 at 6:00 PM on the second floor in the Staff Kitchen. Participants will discuss the recipes they have chosen, their experience preparing the dish and any changes made or would make. Dishes will be shared amongst the group for tasting. Don’t forget to bring serving utensils for your dish and a set of dining ware for your own use.

Registration is required. Registration will close 2 hours prior to the scheduled start time of the event.

Longwood Gardens’ Community Read is an award-winning program uniquely envisioned as a collaborative effort between the Gardens and the community to encourage reading for pleasure and to start a conversation surrounding gardens, plants, or nature. A limited number of One Day Passes for 4 to Longwood Gardens will be given away at this event.

This program supports PA Forward®, an initiative of the Pennsylvania Library Association that highlights libraries’ role in moving Pennsylvania forward. Libraries are key to powering progress, elevating the quality of life by fueling the types of knowledge essential to its success.
